Pregnancy, Doctors, and Hospitals, Oh boy!

First and furthermost I am excited to announce that me and Trevor are expecting a little, bundle of baby joy on April 30, 2013.  Next I would like to point out that I do appreciate hospitals and doctors especially when it is an emergency because they take care of  many things very well.  That said I would now like to vent about the such topics.
After I found out I was pregnant I was faced with the big decision of who I wanted to be my provider.  After lots of good and overwhelming advice I got a list, closed my eyes, and picked one.  Not very scientific I know.  First prenatal visit was exciting because we got to do an ultrasound so we saw the baby moving around and got to listen to it's little heart beat.  I also got a flu shot (which hurt for 3 days) and was given a lab sheet to get some blood tests done before my next visit.  I put off the blood test for 3 weeks (I hate needles!)  Finally bucked up and did it.  Not sure why they took 7 viles of blood though (must be a walking, disease hazard or something.)  Then prenatal visit number 2 came.  Got to pee in a cup, get weighed and listened to the baby's heart beat again.  Then the doctor told me I was disease free (oh good I was worried.)  He then added but you have B negative blood so you will need to get the RH Factor shot. (which is a big shot they put in your butt at 28 weeks and right after you have the baby and for every single pregnancy thereafter )  I was prepared because I had done some research.  Yes the RH factor shot was important if the mother was a negative blood type and the father was a positive blood type because if it produces a baby who is positive the mother's antibodies will attack the baby in the second pregnancy and many times this results in fetal death.  However, if the mother and father both have negative blood types then there is no danger because the baby will be negative.  Guess two negatives really can't equal a positive.  Well I was just in luck because Trevor is a negative blood type so I did not need the shot.  I told the doctor this, but he still insisted it would be better.  I pressed him on why and he said that from a medical standpoint are you really sure he is the father?  Yes I get that this world has problems, but trust me medical professional when I say he is the father he is the freaking father!  Unless something crazy like with Mary (Jesus' mother) happened.  The doctor then went into a very descriptive explanation of what would happen if the father was indeed positive.  Needless to say now he has got me all worried that something crazy might happen and it will be all my fault.  To wrap it up the doctor said it's a free world you are free to choose what you want.  (Thank you very much.)  He then asked if I wanted to be tested for genetic things the baby might have.  Basically these tests are very invasive (such as they stick a needle into your belly and draw some cell's from the baby's placenta and test them.)  There is nothing you can do to change the pregnancy so you just worry for 9 months.  I said no thank you to that.
In conclusion I realized this doctor was probably just following medical policy to cover the hospitals and his butt, but it sounded goofy to me.  It also might be I am pregnant and am a little crazy right now and spent last night barfing a fountain of pizza into the bathroom sink.  That's all I feel better.  (Please excuse my grammar I typed this at 1:51 am.)
