Pregnancy, Doctors, and Hospitals, Oh boy!

First and furthermost I am excited to announce that me and Trevor are expecting a little, bundle of baby joy on April 30, 2013.  Next I would like to point out that I do appreciate hospitals and doctors especially when it is an emergency because they take care of  many things very well.  That said I would now like to vent about the such topics.
After I found out I was pregnant I was faced with the big decision of who I wanted to be my provider.  After lots of good and overwhelming advice I got a list, closed my eyes, and picked one.  Not very scientific I know.  First prenatal visit was exciting because we got to do an ultrasound so we saw the baby moving around and got to listen to it's little heart beat.  I also got a flu shot (which hurt for 3 days) and was given a lab sheet to get some blood tests done before my next visit.  I put off the blood test for 3 weeks (I hate needles!)  Finally bucked up and did it.  Not sure why they took 7 viles of blood though (must be a walking, disease hazard or something.)  Then prenatal visit number 2 came.  Got to pee in a cup, get weighed and listened to the baby's heart beat again.  Then the doctor told me I was disease free (oh good I was worried.)  He then added but you have B negative blood so you will need to get the RH Factor shot. (which is a big shot they put in your butt at 28 weeks and right after you have the baby and for every single pregnancy thereafter )  I was prepared because I had done some research.  Yes the RH factor shot was important if the mother was a negative blood type and the father was a positive blood type because if it produces a baby who is positive the mother's antibodies will attack the baby in the second pregnancy and many times this results in fetal death.  However, if the mother and father both have negative blood types then there is no danger because the baby will be negative.  Guess two negatives really can't equal a positive.  Well I was just in luck because Trevor is a negative blood type so I did not need the shot.  I told the doctor this, but he still insisted it would be better.  I pressed him on why and he said that from a medical standpoint are you really sure he is the father?  Yes I get that this world has problems, but trust me medical professional when I say he is the father he is the freaking father!  Unless something crazy like with Mary (Jesus' mother) happened.  The doctor then went into a very descriptive explanation of what would happen if the father was indeed positive.  Needless to say now he has got me all worried that something crazy might happen and it will be all my fault.  To wrap it up the doctor said it's a free world you are free to choose what you want.  (Thank you very much.)  He then asked if I wanted to be tested for genetic things the baby might have.  Basically these tests are very invasive (such as they stick a needle into your belly and draw some cell's from the baby's placenta and test them.)  There is nothing you can do to change the pregnancy so you just worry for 9 months.  I said no thank you to that.
In conclusion I realized this doctor was probably just following medical policy to cover the hospitals and his butt, but it sounded goofy to me.  It also might be I am pregnant and am a little crazy right now and spent last night barfing a fountain of pizza into the bathroom sink.  That's all I feel better.  (Please excuse my grammar I typed this at 1:51 am.)

Giving my Parents Married Kid Lessons

Lately there has been one subject on my mind and that is babies.  It starts first thing in the morning when I log onto facebook and view other peoples babies and continues throughout the day as I eye google other people's babies on errands or at church.  Yes I am very much aware that I have two, lovely guinea pigs and they are adorable, but they are simply not a human child.  This is brought up on a regular bases every time I go visit family.  An example of this is me and my husband were visiting with family and my brother introduced me as the married sister who has not yet produced him a niece or nephew.  A few days later it was painfully brought up again when I was browsing the internet and my father came in and changed the webpage to things you need to save up for and buy for a newborn.  With the statement if you start looking at it now then maybe I will have a grandchild in at least five years.  I know my family means well, but it does sting.  What they do not know, and what I need to give my parents a lesson on is how to interact with your married child on the sensitive subject of offspring.  When me and my husband entered married bliss there was the mutual agreement with my family that I would finish school and my track scholarship, after all you cannot get pregnant and run for the track team.  As soon as I graduated two months ago, there has been a relentless stream of when are you going to have a kid?  Unknown to my family since day one of marriage me and my husband have given first to the lord, then to savings, including a cushioned child fund (we are very aware they are expensive), and then to spending.  This spending lately has been used to fund various guinea pig living conditions.  Mainly because I have been off the birth control for awhile and stay up many nights wondering why God has not blessed me with a little one.  I simply focus on the guinea pigs because they are a sweet minute of distraction of my worrying constantly of why I am not with child.  In no way are the pigs a replacement for something that I have saved for, prayed for, and dreamed about for, for my whole life. That's it I feel better.  I still love you mom and dad, and family.

New addition, Update, Quotes

We added another addition to the family.  A cute little black and white guinea pig named Flower so Penny could have a cage buddy!  They are so funny!  Today I was weeding the garden and letting them run around and I noticed movement in my weed disposal garbage bag.  Both piggies were in there eating the weeds.  They are smart!
Conference for Track went great for me!  Ran a personal record in the 1500 meter which converted to a 4:46 mile and made it to Regionals in the 5000 meter in Austin, Texas which was an awesome way to end my season and collegiate running career.
Lately I have been doing lots of projects around the house including taking care of the garden, spring cleaning my house, and learning how to cook.  Guess now is the time to learn how to be all domesticated!  Today as I was going through some old things I found an old quote book and it had some quotes from my freshman college days.  Here are some of my favorites!

"I'm keeping my lips warm for that special someone or possibly give her a rash."
                                                                    Hyrum
"I wanted to be a witch but instead I got to be a monkey... a flying monkey."
                                                                    Charity
" You know this cucumber used to be a pickle."
                                                                     Alex
"The trouble with most of us is we rather be ruined by praise then saved by critisium."
                                                                     Institute
"No he thinks I'm beautiful."
                                                                       Thumbulina
That is all the wisdom I will impart for today.  Side note me and Trevor went on my dream trip to Disney World last week!  These are from the animal kingdom, magic kingdom, Harry Potter Land, and the airport.

Update and Bathroom Expert Mode

Well it has been about two years since I published my last post. Many things have happened.  First and further most I have graduated with a bachelors in elementary/ special education from Southern  Utah University.  Trevor has about one more year left at SUU and works as an It manager for Hinton Burdick and helps run Symtec, a computer company he started with family.  Our dear little beta fish died along with our hamster Winnie, and the guinea pig Pepper. We currently have a little guinea pig named Penny, who is alive and thriving.  My brother Justin came back from his mission in December and Wes, Trevor's brother moved to Cedar in January.  This has created the feeling that I live with a bunch of men even though Justin and Wes have their own homes.  Example ,Wes went to use our bathroom the other day and started laughing.  My brother Justin had felt the need to implement Expert Mode.  This consisted of him cutting a cardboard sheet in the outline of a toilet seat and cutting a hole in the middle.  He then labeled it Expert Mode and put it on the toilet seat.  Wes of course had to try it and I threw it away later.  The next morning Trevor started moaning because he wanted to play Expert Mode.
